The bathroom was tiny and uncomfortable, though the rooms themselves were simple and clean. Aside from that, we had a great stay over Easter. Breakfast was delicious, and ordering anything we wanted for free with the QR code was easy. The service was quick, too. Derek made us feel so welcome during all three days, and his invitation to afternoon tea was a lovely surprise before our train to Trondheim. The scones were incredible! He’s the reason for our five stars for service.

Breakfast was really good, and the hotel is right in the town center. The restaurant felt expensive for the portion size, though there are some great burger spots on the street next door. Our room was clean and the beds were OK, but it looked very dated. Maybe other rooms have been updated, since we heard some guests had better ones.

The corridor door is a real problem if you get one of the rooms at the end of the hall. Every time it’s used and slammed, the room shakes, day and night. Some room doors also open out into the hallway. The bathrooms are so cramped you’re always bumping into a wall or fixture, like on a cruise ship. There’s no fridge, coffee station, or extra pillows, and the small pillows are uncomfortable. A wired closet LED stays on constantly, like an unwanted night light.

We popped in for a drink while waiting for our train home after a full day in Røros. The bar has a lovely atmosphere and fit out, and service was prompt. Anna greeted us with so much cheer, and her conversation and helpfulness made a great day even better. Well worth stopping by if you’re passing.
