Nina at reception made the place feel like home. She was polite and shared Røros history with other guests, and as a globetrotter herself, she understood what travelers need. I enjoyed the cozy common room, where you could drop in anytime for free tea or coffee and cakes or cookies, especially nice after a cold day of sightseeing. The hotel has lovely decor, a tasty buffet breakfast, and a central spot in the heart of Røros with free parking. I stayed one night in a historical room and another in a regular room, and both were pleasant and clean.

The walk uphill from the train station was a bit long, which is why we rated the location four, though the distance also had its upside. We’d happily stay again. Our tiny room at Erscheidergarden was clean, had what we needed, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a nice range of options. Connie was a friendly host who spoke great English and suggested restaurants.

We were lucky to be there just as the world championship in dog sledding began, and it was an incredible experience. The snowy streets in February made a lovely setting, and bringing our dog was a big plus. Staff were wonderfully friendly, the room was cozy, and the common areas had coffee, tea and homemade cake. Breakfast was clearly local and excellent quality.

The rooms were very small, and the bathroom sink was tiny. Our room could also have been decorated better. Still, it was clean, with excellent quality linens. The hotel is quaint and historic, close to the church in Røros, and check-in was quick and smooth. Staff were welcoming and hospitable. There’s free parking on site or nearby, and charming common spaces with tea, coffee, cake and cookies available throughout the day. Nice for sitting down with a book. Breakfast was functional.
