Sauda Fjordhotell

The staff were very friendly, and we had a lovely evening in the bar and billiard room, with a piano and more. Still, the stay could have been much nicer. In the family room, which was really a cabin outside, the 120 cm bed was described as a double, and there were no curtains, so we had to make do with towels. Breakfast was disappointing: a tiny buffet with very few choices, perhaps because of the health restrictions at the time.

I got bitten by bedbugs, unfortunately. The building is very old and there was a strong rotten smell in some places. The rooms also lacked basic things like a fridge, bathroom shelves, and a shower cabin. You don't expect bedbug bites in Norway, but it happened here.

The location is beautiful, and the people there are friendly and do their best. But the place needs a lot of work to bring it up to date. It's an old hotel, and both the look and smell make that clear. My apartment had big gaps between the walls and ceiling that opened to the outdoors.

We felt at home right away. The staff were welcoming, and our cozy cabin was clean and very nice. Breakfast the next morning was good quality, and dogs are allowed in the cabins. We'll come back next year!
