That day out fishing with Peder in Sjøvegan was incredible. We landed 50 kilos, learned loads from him about fishing and the area, then grilled the fish on the beach. A superb day. We’d met Peder earlier, when we stayed a night at the lovely Bardu hotel while hiking the Nordkalottruta. My husband’s shoe sole had come off, and the owners and Peder really went out of their way to help. They sent us to Bardu Sports, which had a huge range of quality hiking gear and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Gunilla looked after us at reception and in the restaurant, and made sure we had everything we needed. The room was comfortable and spacious, the food was fantastic, and being able to do laundry was a bonus. We also loved the hike up to Lappjordhytta along the canyon. Thanks to all of you for such a great stay and for all the help.

The salmon was delicious, both smoked and baked, and the homemade food was lovely. We felt warmly welcomed by the very nice staff. The hotel was quiet and clean, a perfect stay.
