Whenever we can, we break up our cross-country outing with hot chocolate in the foyer. Sometimes we go for a Norwegian pancake or cinnamon bread, too. Service can be slow, since the bartender also works as the receptionist. It might be worth finding a solution for that, though when you’re on holiday, a bit of a wait isn’t such a big deal.

It’s an unusually beautiful place, and the food is great. You can start the day by making your own fresh waffle, with lots of other choices as well. The salads and dinner selection are nicely laid out.

This self-contained resort is right on the Rondane plateau, in an ideal spot for cross-country skiing, with freshly groomed tracks. There’s a huge range of food at both breakfast and dinner, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. After a day of skiing or snowshoeing, the pool, sauna, steam room and spa jacuzzi are great for unwinding. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

The dinner and breakfast are generous self-service buffets. You can also charge your car in the parking lot. A very nice hotel, with an original swimming pool and sauna.
