Stor-Elvdal Hotell

The museum is a real highlight, with artifacts from Norwegian history, especially pieces from the founding of our country. I haven't seen anything else like it. The restaurant's Norwegian cuisine impressed me, too. Add in the uniquely presented atmosphere and Norwegian culture, a very charming staff and an owner who's an engaged driving force and excellent speaker, and you get a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you're travelling through Østerdalen, Stor-Elvdal Hotel is well worth a night or two. Highly recommend!

The cafe's food is spectacular, cooked and seasoned just right. It's not fancy, but the friendliest staff serve it up. My boyfriend's Angus burger was huge and juicy perfection. I had spring rolls made here on site, and they were the best I've had since moving to Norway 14 years ago. Don't miss this little gem if you're passing by. It's clean, with good parking and facilities to use.

We stayed in this "Hotel" during the European fly fishing championship, and it was a really bad experience. The food was horrendous, low quality and seemed uncared for, nothing like the photos on their website. The rooms were very small, and they only "cleaned" them twice during the week. We paid a lot of money for this. Absolutely not recommended!!!

The coffee was the only minus. Otherwise, the food was delicious, the staff were great and friendly, the interior was cosy, and the toilets were clean. This is only about our cafe visit, but if you're driving this way, you NEED to stop and eat here.
