Frich´s Hotel Surnadal

The houseflies made it hard to sleep. We had to chase them around the room, and one we missed started buzzing at 4AM. Staff knew about the problem, but hadn’t taken steps like putting screens on the windows. The flies come from a nearby farm, and there’s no discount even when your room is full of them. The room and hallway smelled old and unpleasant. Some furniture seemed fairly new or recently redone, while other pieces were old and smelled bad. The hotel itself seemed very old and poorly refurbished. It also had the oldest elevator I’ve ever seen. We avoided it at first, until someone at the hotel told us to take it to reach our room. I’d rather sleep in the car than stay here again.

We only needed a place to sleep, so the unfortunate view of the fjord didn’t bother us. The family room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was minimal, but the staff were friendly. The hallways could use some renovation 😉

Our family road trip had a great stop here. The room had plenty of space for four, spread across two floors, and there was a good supply of towels and soap. Free parking, strong water pressure, and a quiet, relaxing setting made it comfortable, while still being centrally located in Surnadal. Breakfast was okay, and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy.

Great service, and a really nice atmosphere.
