The food was simple and well done, with fresh ingredients, local produce and a particular focus on fish. The flavors were clean and balanced, without trying to impress through presentation. It suited the setting and the hotel's style. The staff were very kind and ready to help. The facilities also accommodate people who use wheelchairs. I highly recommend it. Sommarøy Arctic Hotel feels calm and closely connected to its surroundings. The light, sea and horizon are a big part of the stay, and the property sits naturally in the landscape. It has relaxing spaces and understated details, with rooms, common areas and wellness facilities that make for a quiet, intimate break. We stayed in one of the beach houses, which had plenty of room and lovely views. I'd love to come back in the depths of winter. It's a little drive from everywhere, which adds to the charm. The staff were fabulous, especially Matilda on reception and Siss in the dining room, both friendly and helpful. Dinner was good and the service attentive. Breakfast had a good, plentiful spread, and you can always ask if something isn't there.

I only ate at the restaurant, so I can't comment on the rooms or room service. I definitely recommend the restaurant. Prices felt fair for Norway, the food came quickly, and the staff were polite and helpful. Portions were generous too. We tried the angus-burger menu and fish and chips.

We stopped for lunch but didn't stay overnight, and it made for a really nice break. The restaurant and terrace have lovely views. With a baby, the space was especially handy: there was room to crawl around, plus two boxes of toys and some books. The food was good, though the burgers could use more salad and sauce. The veggie burgers and fries were quite dry. The fries were very crispy, but needed more ketchup or mayo.
