Thon Hotel Nidaros

The breakfast had plenty of variety and was very good, and on weekdays they even served free soup in the evenings. The gym was excellent, with lots of equipment. During my almost week-long stay, the room was comfortable, with incredibly soft pillows and a bed, and a good-sized TV. The room itself was fine, but the bathroom was extremely cramped, especially the sink, and the shower floor was dirty from the first day. Housekeeping came daily except once, when the bed was only half made and the shower soap wasn't replaced. I had to go to reception for more, which was frustrating. I also had to leave the main building and enter a neighboring one to get to my room. A mixed stay, with good facilities and a comfortable room, but the cleaning problems and small hassles took away from it.

The breakfast buffet was filling, and the simple dinner was just the right amount. It was easy to walk to Nidaros Cathedral and Bybrua Bridge, with shops and several restaurants nearby. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.

The breakfast buffet was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room and bed were small, typical Norwegian size, but after two weeks in the country I was used to that. The kettle and one bedside lamp didn't work. Since it was Sunday, nobody could fix them.

Getting into the shower meant holding my breath because the glass doors weren't installed at the right height. After check-in, I understood why they'd sized me up by eye. A pretty good incentive to lose a few kilos.
