They overbook rooms and cancelled my stay just one day before I was due to arrive. I’d booked months ahead, so they had plenty of time to sort it out, but left it until the last minute, when it could do the most damage. They didn’t answer my emails or calls. They say they can now be booked through OTAs, but they wouldn’t even respond to those either. Arriving in the Lofoten islands at the busiest time of year without somewhere to stay, when virtually every other place was full, was a horrible situation to be left in. Where was I supposed to sleep? They clearly didn’t care at all.

A quiet spot at the end of the road, with welcoming people and small modern apartments in a charming fisherman-style cabin. Ours had a well-equipped kitchen and a nice patio where we could eat breakfast outside. I’d strongly recommend a visit. There’s also a fish-farming visit included in the room price, and it’s free to go.

We stayed in Rorbu 8 for a week and checked out last Sunday, but I’m already keen to come back. It was a cosy place to work from, with a comfortable Rorbu and pleasant grounds to walk around. The internet was super fast, the kitchen was fully equipped and had a dishwasher, and there was plenty of parking. Leknes was a short drive away, as was the viewpoint at Einangan for seeing the polar lights. It was quiet and secluded compared with some other Rorbuer. We did wish there was a washing machine, but it wasn’t a big issue. I’d definitely stay again.
