Rondane Høyfjellshotell

The view and architecture really gave us a Norwegian feel. We had a great stay in July, and the staff were very friendly and did what they could to help. There are both modern and old-style rooms, and the pool and sauna were very clean. Bring your own swimsuit, since they don’t sell them there.

We paid through booking in April 2024 for a flat, but the hotel had apparently ceased to exist, having become a refugee camp, probably around mid-2023. We received no service, and booking kept the money and refused to reimburse us. It seems booking doesn’t check whether hotels or other accommodations still exist. After this, we won’t book with booking again.

The food and drinks were excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a spacious, comfortable lobby, plus a good-sized pool, sauna, and spa. The hotel would suit a wedding or another celebration. Our room was clean and perfectly adequate, though a bit dated; they’re renovating the rooms one at a time. You’re right at the entrance to Rondane National Park, a magical place in any season. It’s a great base for travelers who really want to experience Norwegian nature, whether hiking or skiing. We only stayed a couple of days this time, but we’ll definitely return. The usual prices seem fair by Norwegian standards.

I loved the scenery on my first trip to Norway, but I don’t think I’ll return to this hotel. The rooms are small and old, and there’s no room service. Breakfast was really good, though some staff seemed unfriendly or not very service-minded, like rolling their eyes.
