Heart of Bhaktapur

Being right in the middle of Durbar Square made it easy to find food, groceries, supplies and things to do, and locals greeted us with a warm “Namaste.” The temple dedicated to Shiva is only steps away. I loved the rooftop views, and there was a well-stocked kitchen for anyone wanting to cook. Our breakfast was delicious, with some Newari food, and the meals were a real treat. They also accommodated my partner's dietary needs kindly. Krishna welcomed us when we arrived, and we met his family during our stay. He and Roshni shared a little history of the city and gave us sightseeing and food suggestions. We appreciated hearing their personal perspective on life in Bhaktapur, and learning about the guest house's support for local children with disabilities. The staff were warm, helpful and friendly, and we had enough blankets to stay cozy at night. Our room was clean and had the essentials, including a comfortable bed, soft blankets, a locking cabinet and a spotless bathroom. There was a note explaining that hot water is available in the afternoon and at night because the building runs on solar power. The numbered doors first gave me a dorm-like impression, but the hospitality and welcoming colors were better than I expected. Thoughtful portraits decorate the halls and bedrooms. I absolutely loved staying here. The staff went out of their way to make me feel at home, and the location really is at the center of everything. I'd gladly stay again if I return to Nepal.
