Kathmandu Boutique Hotel

We spent three nights in a Standard room on the ground floor. There was no view or sunlight, and the hotel doesn’t have in-house parking. The separate parking area is a little way from the hotel. It’s still a very good, budget-friendly hotel. Reception was polite and helpful, and there’s a beautiful garden inside. The location is just a few steps from darbar sqare. We loved the Continental breakfast and Nepali Thakali.

I chose to stay in the old 108 building because I love Newar architecture, and I didn’t want to miss the chance to experience those old quarters. The rooms are very basic, but comfortable. The newer annex is modernized. The food was good, and the staff and managers were wonderful. On my trip, I was struck by the grace and friendliness of Nepali people everywhere I went.

The rooms are cozy and sweet, and the staff were amazing, really nice and helpful. There’s a beautiful garden for breakfast, and it’s very good value for money. The hotel is a little outside the main area, but still only two minutes from Thamel, which gives it a nice secluded feel. I recommend staying here when you visit Kathmandu!

I came back for breakfast on several mornings after spotting the cafe garden from my airbnb, and each visit was a lovely start to the day. The garden is beautiful, with a fountain and pomelo trees, and makes a peaceful place to eat. It can get chilly in winter, so bring something warm. For 400 rps, the set breakfast includes tea or coffee, two eggs cooked any style, two toasts, jam, butter, and hash potatoes. I also tried the pancake for an extra 90rps. It was surprisingly fluffy and tasted really good. On the second day, they surprised us with complimentary mushroom soup before the main breakfast arrived. It was warm and flavorful. The staff are always friendly and kind, and the Nepali wine is 400 rps a glass. I recommend trying it if you’re staying nearby, especially in winter when it can warm you up.
