Kathmandu Friendly Home

The garden view from my balcony was nice, and the location was convenient, with shops and restaurants all within walking distance. The older man at reception was also very friendly and helpful. The room itself was in awful shape. The sheets hadn't been changed, the table had gravy on it, the wardrobe was old and dirty with no hangers, and the walls had lots of splatter marks. The toilet was especially filthy, and the air-conditioning filters were so dirty I cleaned them myself. There was a small window between my bathroom and the next room's bathroom, so I could hear all their noise. The door lock looked like something from a prison and clanged when I opened or closed it. The building is old and has no elevator. The young man at the lobby coffee shop spoke disrespectfully when I asked about the area, keeping his eyes on his phone.

We booked directly with the hotel manager when we stopped by, and he was a really nice, friendly guy. We stayed three nights in a large double room with its own bathroom and a balcony. Breakfast was tasty, and every staff member we met was friendly. The location made it easy to get everywhere nearby. At 6am, the manager even drove me to the airport for less than the taxi drivers had quoted. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

I tried the newly added coffee shop since my last post and liked the coffee, prices, and service. The hotel had also been renovated the previous month. The rooms are a good size, with new mattresses and curtains, and the bathrooms now have hand bidet sprayers. Each floor has a new WiFi router. There are quiet spots on the rooftop where you can read and enjoy the view.

I’d come back if I’m in Kathmandu again. The hotel is right in the center and easy for taxis and guides to find, with restaurants, shops, an exchange office, and a 24/7 ATM close by. The cafe is worth a mention too, with very good coffee, better than Thamel. The room had everything I needed and more. Staff were polite, smiling, and happy to adjust to personal needs. They were amazing and ready to help.
