Mountain Backpackers Hostel

For one night, the room and bed were good, but I wouldn't recommend the place. We had booked somewhere quieter, but it was full when we arrived, possibly due to overbooking, so we were taken to the mountain backpackers hostel with little choice. The guy said it would cost the same, but our first-floor room was on the street, opposite the entrance to a discothèque, and noisy. When we asked to move, he clearly couldn't be bothered and wasn't nice at all. In the end, it cost a bit more.

The place was clean, and the staff were helpful. I stayed two nights in a dormitory room that cost NRS 250/day, and they supplied a blanket, so you don't need to bring one. They also helped me exchange INR to NRS and charged an extra percentage in Indian rupees for the exchange.

The rooms are noisy, with little privacy or security. We booked services through the hostel and were overcharged, even after negotiating the price down. They also charged for services that people who booked through other places said should have been complimentary. I was very disappointed and won't use their services on my next visit to Nepal.

Yuvraj, the owner, is a gem of a person. We stayed in a shared dorm with four neatly separated bunk beds, each with its own charging slots and reading light. The bathroom was shared, and the Wi-Fi was good. Private rooms are available too. You can have breakfast on the rooftop, including Indian food like aaloo paratha.
