Jenny’s place gave me a chance to see everyday life in a Nepali home and learn about local culture. She can even show you how to use the buses, and she’s happy to teach you some Nepali cooking. Her meals were delicious, too. I rented a furnished room in her apartment, with a double bed, wardrobe with a locker, coffee table, and its own toilet. The hot shower is shared. The house is quiet, away from Kathmandu’s bustle, with Balaju’s lovely local park nearby. You can walk to Thamel or Monkey Temple in about half an hour, or take a reasonably priced taxi or motorbike to other places. A really authentic stay, with a great host and apartment.
