Hotel Yala Peak

It’s affordable, easy to get around from, and a good option for travelers on a tight budget. A few staff members were really nice, which I loved. Still, the room and toilet need to be bigger. Things are old, the bed should be replaced, and the room wasn’t as good as I expected.

For budget travel, this is a good choice and I wasn’t disappointed. The price is good, the vibe is nice, and the staff are professional and ready to help at any hour. My room was spacious for one person. There’s a ground-floor restaurant serving from breakfast through supper. I only tried breakfast, which tasted good and gave me a solid start to the day. They’ll also store your luggage temporarily for free after checkout. A few things to keep in mind: there’s no lift, and I was on the fourth floor, so I had to use the stairs every day. Staff can carry luggage if you ask. My room had a fan but no air-conditioning, which could be hot in summer. The showerhead was broken, so they gave me water baskets for bathing, though hot water came quickly. There was no fridge or cooking area in my room, although I saw a pantry in the large family room. You can refill bottles with hot or cold water in the lobby.

This was our second visit to Hotel Yala Peak, and we stayed for seven days. It was comfortable and enjoyable again, with friendly, welcoming staff who handled our requests quickly and with care. We always felt looked after. Manager Esha deserves a special thank you for being attentive and caring, listening to every detail and making sure we were comfortable. We tried lots of dishes at Yala Café & Restaurant, and I especially liked the delicious Stuffed Chicken. Food and service were consistently excellent. The hotel feels warm and homely, and we’d happily return.

Durga is a fantastic host and a really nice guy. He picked us up from the airport and helped arrange our onward travel, including hotels and taxis. He even handled sending packages home and took care of every extra request we had. The hotel sits right in the heart of Thamel, with everything within walking distance and the lively bustle all around. Durga’s staff reflect his approach, they’re well trained, attentive, and incredibly helpful. The food was fresh and outstanding. We’ll definitely come back.
