The owner was lovely and helped us with anything we needed. She showed us nearby temples and taught us about Nepali culture, which we were eager to learn about. We felt more than at home and have never felt so welcomed, even after staying in many places across different countries. If you want to avoid the tourist areas around Kathmandu and explore Nepalese culture, especially Newa culture, this is a perfect base. We loved it so much that we returned for a few days after visiting Pokhara, and plan to keep coming back whenever we're in Kathmandu. We're grateful for every moment here. My home in Pātan, and five stars don't feel like enough. Dhanyabad!
Staying in Patan for a few days is a great way to take in its culture, history, crafts, and atmosphere. I fell in love with the neighborhood. Tanani Newa House is tucked into a quiet courtyard a stone's throw from the Patan Gate. It’s fully equipped and very warm, with a central wooden staircase and thoughtful Newar decorations, plants, and books. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with private bathrooms and hot showers, and the rooftop terrace has incredible views over Kathmandu. I first came to Nepal this fall, traveling solo, and Shova, Dinesh, and their two daughters made me feel at home straight away. I felt safe and knew I could ask them for help. Sharing the Tihar celebration, chatting over delicious breakfasts, and learning about Newar culture were a joy. Their kindness really touched me, and I hope to see them again on my next trip because I definitely want to return. I also appreciate their commitment to responsible tourism and protecting natural resources.
The family's kindness warmed our hearts, and sharing meals and culture and exploring the neighborhood with them gave us memories we'll always treasure. We first traveled to Nepal and the people at Tanani Newa Home helped us so much. After Patan, we went to Pokhara, but wanted to return, so we stayed here for a few more days before leaving Nepal. Thank you for welcoming us and giving us such wonderful memories. We'll come back ✨ Dhanyabad❣️
Travelers with heavy bags may have to carry them a short distance. Even so, we highly recommend the place. We had a wonderful six-night family stay, and the hosts were incredibly welcoming and flexible. They were a great help with everything we needed, and their hospitality was top-notch.
Patan Durbar Square is only a short walk away, and the spot near Patan Dhoka is hard to beat. Dinesh and Shova were warm, professional, and quick to respond. I felt at ease right away, and they welcomed me while still respecting my privacy. My room was spacious, clean, and private, with its own bathroom, a decent desk, and a full clothes cupboard. I slept wonderfully here. Great value, and I highly recommend it.
