I spent almost two months staying with Rakesh and a few other travelers. It felt like family, not a hostel. We cooked together, and he took us to different places around Kathmandu. If you want to be away from busy Thamel, I really recommend staying at his place.

It’s an open, flexible home where you can cook, clean, chat, and spend time with the family. The food can be Nepali or non-Nepali, and you’re welcome to make your own too. The owner is one of the most open-minded, friendly, and cheerful people I’ve met in Kathmandu. This is a great place for travelers looking for a friendly atmosphere at a reasonable price, and it works well for couples too. It’s in a local, non-touristy area on the outskirts, but still very close to the international airport. I’d recommend it for a longer stay if you want to relax and take it easy.
