For this location, the hotel is fine, but it’s nowhere near worth more than $200. Maybe $100 at most. At that rate, breakfast ought to be superb, and it isn’t. The service should be more polished, and a hot shower should be guaranteed. They rely on solar power, so the hot water is gone by 3pm. They brought me a bucket of hot water, which was okay, but a large hotel at this price shouldn’t depend only on solar. I expected a lot more from Mountain Lodges of Nepal, and I won’t stay at another one.

After the tiring trek from Namche, I had a lovely warm stay here. The staff were kind and accommodating, and breakfast was both delicious and authentic. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone staying in Lukla.

That $244 price is ridiculous. Sure, the place is decent and good quality, but it feels like a $30-$40 stay, not $244. You can get a room at other hotels for 1,000 rupees or less, about $7. This costs 34 times as much and definitely isn’t 34 times better, maybe three or four times better. It’s not a five-star hotel with amazing facilities like yak and yeti in Kathmandu, which is amazing and costs only $108 by comparison. What is this nonsense at $244? Laughable.

Warm blankets are a real blessing when it’s cold. The kitchen is great, with food made from farm to table and cooks who really know their craft. mamata and the rest of the staff are so welcoming and helpful. If you want to experience Nepali hospitality in Lukala, this is the place.
