The room was spotless and had a nice patio, and we really enjoyed our two nights at Whakaipo Lodge. Angie and Garth were wonderful hosts. We had one of the best dinners of our New Zealand vacation on the first night, and Angie's breakfasts were fantastic, with lots of choices. The lodge is about a 10-minute drive from town, where there are plenty of restaurants in the centre. My wife and I have just got home and are glad we stayed.

We came to Whakaipo Lodge early in our NZ trip hoping to find good mountain biking, and found a great trail network and Garth's awesome fleet of MTBs. Angie and Garth are unequaled B&B hosts. They seem to love what they do, from the home-cooked breakfasts to the occasional evening happy hour and treats. We made what felt like new friends, and were sad to leave. It was a real highlight of our New Zealand stay. Best trails, best bikes, and by far the best hosts!

The suite was very comfortable, and having laundry service was a nice bonus. The food was amazing, and they handled dietary allergies without any trouble. The hosts know their local hiking, biking and adventure options well. They really know how to make guests feel welcome. Wish we could’ve stayed longer. Garth and Angie are top notch.

Homemade food was served throughout our stay, all of it world class. We had afternoon tea with delicious treats, then evening drinks, local beers and wine, with more treats by the fireplace. Breakfast was another lovely part of the experience. Angie is delightful and an amazing chef, while Garth is a gem of a renaissance man. They were both so welcoming and a joy to spend time with. Our time at the lodge was truly special and a highlight of our trip.

The hosts were lovely and friendly, and the canapes, dinner and breakfast were fantastic. We had great chats with Garth and Angie. Our two-night stay was a real pleasure, and they absolutely deserve their five-star rating.
