French Bay House

We only had one night at French Bay House, though I wish we'd stayed longer and would love to return on our next holiday. It was our first night in New Zealand, and such a lovely start. The house felt warm and welcoming, with the fire already going when we arrived on a cold evening. Rhonda was very kind and suggested some good restaurants and walks, including the Childrens Bay walk, which we loved. Breakfast is a must: the homemade granola was delicious, and it was the best hotel breakfast we've had. Thank you, Ronda.

Tim made us feel very welcome, and we'd definitely stay again. The house is beautiful, the room and bed were comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. There is plenty to see and do in and around Akaroa.

We spent a rainy stay enjoying this charming old B&B right in the heart of Akaroa. The owners are lovely, and breakfast was delicious. The house has plenty of character and a thoughtful, homey feel, while still being functional and equipped with the modern appliances you'd want. We ended up staying in more and playing cards by the living-room fire. The only things we noticed were that cooking smells travelled upstairs to our room in the morning, and we could hear some of what others were doing around the house. That's part of staying in a 19th-century home.

We spent two nights here and really enjoyed our time in Akaroa. Jacqui was a wonderful host, made us feel at home, and recommended some great places for dinner. Our room was cozy, clean, and well maintained, and we had tea in the lovely garden. Both the cooked breakfast and the continental options were great. Best stay in NZ!
