It’s a lovely quiet spot, with birds, rabbits, and ducks around, but still close to Queenstown and Arrowtown. Tamaki greeted us, and we drove straight up to our room, The Barn. Roy came by later to check we had what we needed. The room was really comfortable, with everything for cooking or BBQing and eating out on the deck. If you want to be near Queenstown without the hustle and bustle, this is the place.

We found the cottage clean, neat, and stocked with everything we needed. It’s peaceful and pretty, surrounded by nature, with a relaxing feel that worked especially well for our family. We had an excellent stay and will definitely come back.

We come back here whenever our family of five heads to NZ snow in Queenstown. The kids have room to be loud, there’s a spa, and they get to feed the sheep every day. The beds are comfortable, the kitchens are full, and there’s lots of space for drying gear. It’s close to Arrowtown, which we love, and Queenstown is about 15 minutes away for a day trip. It’s too busy for us to stay there longer. The place itself is quiet, nicely set up and presented, near coronet peak, and about 40 minutes from other locations.

The kitchen could use more pans and pots. There was only one small size, which wasn’t enough, especially for a family. Otherwise, the place was clean and spacious, and the heating was strong enough for the cold winter weather. The location worked well, roughly midway between Arrotown and Queenstown.

We stayed six nights and it felt cozy and homey, with a kitchenette and a dining table that was useful for working remotely. Arrowtown is only about a five minute drive for hikes, pies, and ice cream, and Queenstown centre took 10-15 minutes by the back road, which avoided tourist traffic. It’s quiet but close to things. You do need a car to get around from here, since the centre, shops, and other activities aren’t walkable, though cycling is possible. I was disappointed by the room arrangement. We booked what Expedia advertised as a one bedroom apartment, but on arrival the bedroom was locked for our whole stay. The room information folder said that bookings for 1 to 2 people in the barn only include the king bed, with no access to the bedroom. I’d checked Expedia’s policies and listing again and couldn’t find that condition, so I thought I’d booked the one bedroom barn. We needed the extra space to work remotely and ended up with a studio instead of the one bedroom apartment we expected. If we stayed again, I’d ask for the bedroom to be open, especially if paying for the whole barn. If we wanted a studio, we would have chosen one. We also got just one towel each for all six nights. Next time I’d ask for more, since drying them was a challenge and I didn’t want to pay extra to use the dryer in the community Laundry room.
