Athenree Hot Springs & Holiday Park

We met lots of friendly locals here, and the staff were lovely too. The hot pool was spotless, with beautiful mosaic work featuring local art around it. Everything was so clean, tidy, and well maintained. Our room had loads of useful extras, including cutlery, practical kitchenware, and hairdryers. It’s on the end of a peninsula, so we felt very safe wandering around, and it took only a couple of hours to get here from Auckland even with holiday traffic. The accommodation is peaceful and relaxed, overlooking the water and a children's playground. Such a great find!

The pool building artwork was a highlight for me. Lovely place, really friendly staff, and great hot pools that they empty and clean each night. There’s also a handy little shop for campers.

The grounds are beautifully manicured, with great views in the evening. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it was excellent value. The hot tub and pool were both lovely and spotless. A great holiday park.

We stayed in one of the cabins and had a fabulous time. There were lots of cheerful campers, RVs and vans, and well-behaved kids about, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The common facilities were plentiful and clean. We were also surprised to find kayaks for hire for just a small contribution towards maintenance. The whole property is very well kept, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and quick to answer questions. We especially liked that locals come here too. We met people visiting from all around the North Island.
