The apartment bedrooms are roomy, though the lounge feels small for a three-bedroom apartment. I won’t stay there again. Most of the night was hell, and I’ve filed complaints with police and the building body corp. On Friday 16 May 2025, around 8pm, I was accused by the building manager on the ground floor of damaging the roller door, and he called police. Management told them he wanted us off the property that night. The police directed me to leave without evidence of what I’d supposedly done. More than an hour later, after 9pm, police lined up to escort me and my family out, saying I’d be dragged out if I didn’t go. We stood our ground, still with no evidence provided. Around midnight, the officer in charge came back and said they’d checked the video footage and found no evidence that I or anyone in my family had damaged the carpark roller door. Police apologized for putting us through it. Around 1:30am, the power went off and stayed out until 10am Saturday. The manager seemed to be drinking that night, and I don’t know why someone would drink on the job. A guy who lived on the first floor also got involved. On Saturday the manager peered over our courtyard. Good luck if you stay there.

The unit is a good size for two or three people, and the building manager responds quickly. The location has upsides and downsides. You can walk to major bus routes and most CBD activities and events, and it’s near the CBD. But the Auckland Mission is right next door, and its fire alarm goes off at least twice a week, at any time of day. It’s become too frequent and disruptive, more annoying than worrying.

The parking beside the building looks public, but it isn’t. I searched for signs showing that the spot was private and couldn’t find any, then my car was towed. The towing company said this happens often and called it a “trap.” In a city where parking is already very limited, setting drivers up this way feels extremely costly and unethical.

Really convenient for students, since it’s close to the universities.

A lovely, peaceful place to stay.
