There are plenty of nearby places to eat, and it's an easy ten-minute walk to Oxford terrace or down to the Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park. We chose it because it was one of the only hotels offering one room with two twin beds, which worked perfectly for two friends travelling together. The room was small, but the bathroom was nice and clean and there was a kitchenette. It was away from the street, though noise from people coming and going in adjacent rooms was still noticeable. Keep that in mind if you're travelling with kids who need room to be kids.

The location worked perfectly, close to the city centre and with easy access to the airport. We had everything we needed in the room, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a great one-night stay.

The older accommodation was poorly maintained, with water leaking onto the carpet under the air conditioner. Parking and laundry fees hadn't been disclosed. The owner, an older man, was extremely agitated and aggressive. There was a problem or difference between the booking and the bedding setup. After about five seconds of pleasantries, we pointed out the inconsistency between our booking and the room allocation. He refused to discuss it or consider options, repeatedly insisting we had to go through bookings.com or leave, and threatened to make us vacate without justification. He was very unpleasant to deal with.

The rooms were huge and immaculate, and the location made it easy to walk everywhere. The people who own this motel are really lovely. I'd definitely stay here again.

The location was good, but we were treated very badly by the owner, who made no effort to accommodate us or admit mistakes. There were extra charges we only learned about on arrival, including $10 for a parking space at a motel. Horrible manager. Thanks, Leon, for a terrible time in Christchurch.
