Fable Christchurch

The best parts are the central location, right by New Regent street and the central tram station, and the commanding city views. The rooms are clean and adequate, though small, with very little storage in the tiny cabinet. The bathroom is narrow too, and I kept hitting my head on the towel rack above the toilet. Coffee capsules and tea with an espresso machine were a nice touch. The lobby bar and reception are pleasant, if small, and the bar is cosy with decent drinks. Breakfast cost $35 per person per day and was disappointing: a very basic selection, no eggs cooked to order, and machine made coffee. It’s more like a 3-4 star hotel, a slightly better Ibis, rather than five star.

A great base for exploring Christchurch, with modern rooms and good quality comfort. There’s a bar and restaurant on site, and plenty more options close by on New Regent Street. I recommend 27 steps, The Last Word and Pacifica Kava Kitchen.

The room had great views and a good bed, and as a standard hotel it was fine, but this stay was very average compared with my other Fable experiences. The welcome felt clinical rather than warm. One lift was broken, leaving everyone to squeeze into the single working car, and there were several broken items in the room, including the chair and towel rack. It certainly didn’t feel five star or up to the standard of Dunedin. I walked past reception several times and the staff seemed more interested in their own discussion than acknowledging a guest.

Our company’s New Year’s dinner at Fable Christchurch went smoothly from start to finish, thanks to a team that was professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. Special thanks to Joseph Xapo, Shanti Kumari Chaudhary, Krishne, and Aryan Chauhan. They coordinated everything, handled requests with care, and made the evening feel warm and memorable, so we could enjoy it without a single concern. The atmosphere was elegant, and the service was timely and gracious. It was clear the team took pride in making the event meaningful. Highly recommended for company events, celebrations, and special occasions. We’re grateful and look forward to returning.
