I stayed three nights and was very happy with my choice. For $150, the central location gets you a complete one-bedroom apartment with a kitchen area. It was quiet, clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with adequate parking. There’s an extra bed in the salon area if needed. There’s lots of competition in Dunedin, and I’d be surprised if others at this price were better. The owner was very nice too.
We have video evidence, recorded by another guest in our car when you verbally abused us. We’ve submitted it with formal complaints to Agoda, Tourism New Zealand, and the Human Rights Commission, and uploaded it to police for the record. We intend to keep pursuing this so future travelers won’t face the same treatment at this motel. Across all your responses to our Google Reviews, we still haven’t seen a single apology for verbally abusing and racially discriminating against us, or refusing check-in at 10 p.m. Instead of addressing our concerns, you accuse customers of being “malicious” for leaving an honest review, while lecturing them about doing the right thing. We see lies, deflection, and attempts to twist the truth. Your attitude shows deep-rooted arrogance and a sense of superiority toward customers. It suggests that at your hotel, insulting guests, racial discrimination, and false advertising are treated as acceptable. It also suggests you think it’s fine to threaten to refuse a guest check-in simply because they arrive at 10 p.m., depending on your mood and preference.
We had paid in full through Agoda for seven adults and one two-year-old. After a long drive, we reached the motel around 10 p.m., exhausted, but reception was closed and there were no instructions for checking in after hours. The owner answered when we called for help, shouting at us for “waking them up” in a rude, aggressive tone. He threatened to turn us away, leaving us stranded late at night. Then he came out from a back room and yelled at us face-to-face, demanded to know our country, and implied people from there were “impolite.” The offensive, discriminatory language was deeply insulting and unacceptable. We tried to calm things down and speak respectfully. He kept lecturing us on “how to behave,” as if we were students being scolded instead of paying guests. His conduct was aggressive, demeaning, and shockingly unprofessional. The motel also tried to charge extra for our two-year-old, even though our Agoda booking clearly said “7 adults and 1 child.” The owner has a curfew-style rule dictating what time guests are “allowed” to arrive or enter, but that was never mentioned on the booking page. This was the worst accommodation experience we’ve ever had. The hostility, discrimination, and refusal to accommodate tired travelers arriving late were appalling. Absolutely not recommended, especially for families or international visitors.
The manager/owner was very friendly and welcoming, and the location worked great for us. Our room was clean and comfortable. Thanks for a lovely stay!
The room was clean and had a full kitchen, plus a comfortable bed and a huge TV with lots of channels. Reception was great too, giving us ideas for places to go and things to see.
