Hotel Carlton Mill

Good value for the money, and the location is handy, near town, a park, and a restaurant right on the doorstep. The rooms have been updated, but the building itself feels worn. Sound carries too easily, and the bed wasn't very good.

It was quiet, clean, comfortable, and great value. We were across from the park and river, with an easy walk into town.

A clean, lovely hotel, within walking distance of the shops and restaurants.

I wouldn’t stay here again. I spent four nights in February, and the place felt below average: the room and furnishings were dated, the bed was soft and worn, the fridge noisy, and there were few amenities. The remote only switched the TV on and off, with none of the other controls working. There was no air conditioning, and the external door didn’t lock properly. It didn’t feel like a hotel to me. The restaurant next door has separate owners, so you can’t charge meals to your room. I was told that option was only available to regular or repeat guests. Reception wasn’t staffed, and no one answered the phone when I tried to get help. It was also not clean.
