On my first visit, I told Courtney, our waitress, that I’m coeliac, and she brought over the gluten-free menu straight away. I really appreciated that. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was great too. Months later I came back with my husband. As soon as we sat down, Courtney brought the allergen menu without me needing to mention anything. I couldn’t believe she remembered. That kind of care and attention is rare. Every staff member I’ve met has been lovely and attentive. This has become one of my regular places, and I recommend it to everyone.

Pomeroy's Old Brewery, on Kilmore Street at the edge of the central city, has a straightforward menu, mostly the usual “and chips” sort of food, like fish and chips. It’s all tasty and well prepared, and there’s a good drinks menu. The restaurant is clean, the staff are pleasant, and the service is good. It’s family friendly and especially worth a visit if you have kids.

Pomeroy's is a Christchurch institution, and it's well known across New Zealand, especially among craft beer fans. Inside feels really cosy, with a good outdoor space too. There are plenty of taps, including beer brewed on site and a wide mix of guest beers from around the region and the rest of NZ. We didn't eat, but the menu looked great. If you're in Christchurch for craft beer, Pomeroy's is a must visit.

We live in Whakatū Nelson and still make the trip just to get our Pomeroy’s fix. The staff are so warm and welcoming, and the place has everything I want in a pub: soft lighting, old brick walls, and lovely dogs settled beside their owners. The menu has always been our favourite, especially the perfectly cooked steaks and delicious cauliflower burgers. We talk about moving closer so we can spend more time there. WE LOVE YOU FOREVER POMEROY’S!!!

We had a quiet table in the dining room and the service was excellent. The pub has a classic feel, while the menu gives it a modern edge. There are great craft beers and fresh, filling food, and the sticky date pudding was the best we've had in ages. Can't wait to come back.
