We’ve just spent three nights at the Ramada and can’t praise the hotel highly enough. The suites are within easy reach of Christchurch centre, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and fresh, serviced to a high standard every day. There was also a washing machine and tumble dryer discreetly set up in the bathroom, with washing powder, all complimentary. I’d highly recommend staying at the Ramada.

I panicked a little when I realised we’d miss check-in, but the hotel called back with reassurance and clear instructions. Picking up our keys from the desk was super easy. It’s a nice hotel, and our small room was warm and comfortable. We were only there for one night on a very quick visit. There are food options a short walk away, though they were all closed by the time we arrived and we went to bed hungry. That wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but a vending machine in reception with quick eats like noodles or chips would be awesome.

The room was clean, quiet, spacious and comfortable, and check-in went smoothly. It was a disappointing way to end an otherwise fabulous stay: when we came back for our bags, I asked the receptionist to call the airport transfer company we had chosen. She insisted on her recommended provider and wouldn’t call ours or help further. In all my years of travelling around the world, I’ve never had that happen. It felt like she simply didn’t care or couldn’t be bothered, and it’s nearly put me off Ramada Hotels.

The room was the best one we had on our whole South Island trip. It was spacious, with a comfortable king-size bed, a washer and dryer, and a fully equipped kitchen. I’d originally booked Ramada for the parking, but the stay exceeded my expectations. Absolutely loved it!

The rooms were quiet, though the beds were average. There are restaurants and cafes nearby, and Fresh Choice is about a 10-minute walk away, but the hotel itself has no bar, restaurant, breakfast or even breakfast packs. It’s a utilitarian place opposite the stadium. If you want the comfort of somewhere to eat and drink on arrival, this isn’t the place. Other central city hotels have restaurants and bars on site for similar prices.
