The Olive Motel

We stayed here twice for work. The rooms were lovely and the location convenient on our first visit. The price seemed a bit high, but the convenience made it worthwhile. I tried to offer feedback afterwards without being irritated, but every point was met with hostility. The shower basin filled up while I was using it, and we had trouble filling the tub. I also mentioned that the exterior lights stayed on all night rather than using motion detectors, making the bedroom very bright for that guest. On a separate visit, I booked a room for one of our techs, explained it was a business booking, and asked whether they had our card details on file. The booking information came through to our business accounts email, but when our worker arrived, he was told to pay that evening with his own card. He’d been working for hours and was exhausted, so he paid out of pocket. We wanted him to stay longer in the area, but after that experience he declined. As returning customers, we felt payment could have waited until morning, and a phone call could have sorted it out. We won’t stay here again.

David was fantastic to deal with, and we’ll all definitely be back. Our group of 10 found plenty of parking and the town was an easy walk away. The rooms were very, very clean and tidy, with all the mod cons. We’d 100% recommend staying at the Olive Motel.

The room was spotless and had everything we needed, and check-in was easy with a painless checkout too. We arranged our stay several months ahead for a wedding, and David called a couple of weeks before to make sure everything was in order. I’d happily stay again when I’m in Coromandel.

We were lucky to get the last room at Olive Motel on a fully booked night. We couldn’t hear the other guests, so the soundproofing seemed good. The room was really clean, with good cooking facilities, an excellent bathroom and loads of shows to watch on the large TV. The air conditioning was a plus, though we didn’t need it. It’s a short walk to the town centre and its good cafes and restaurants. David, the owner, gave us a great welcome and communicated excellently. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We left a pair of sandals behind, and he found them and said he’d mail them once the post shop reopened after the public holidays. Thanks for a great stay, and I hope you get that Peugeot of your dreams!
