We found the unit roomy and great value, and it was clean, warm and comfortable. The hot water had really good pressure, too. Staff were very friendly and happy to work around our later-than-planned arrival. A great stop on the drive from Nelson to Dunedin, definitely recommend it.

The outside didn’t give much away, but inside it was nice. The bed was comfortable, in its own room apart from the kitchen and living area. There was plenty of hot water, and the pub was just a short walk away for dinner.

It was a very cold night, so the warm bedding really stood out. The unit was scrupulously clean and stocked with the usual amenities, and we had a pleasant welcome. The price was fine for our stay on Monday the 13th May.

Truck traffic on SH1 made it a bit noisy during the week, and the firm mattresses took some getting used to. Apart from that, we were very pleased with our stay. It was a clean, affordable motel, and the hosts were friendly and helpful.

The owner came by not long after I arrived to check that everything was okay, a thoughtful touch that made me feel cared for. I felt very at home in this comfortable, basic unit. It wasn’t the Hilton or anything lavish, but it had everything I needed for one night and could work for a longer stay too. There’s a cooking hob but no oven, so making a meal would be possible. The unit was extremely clean, the bed was super comfortable and warm, and the heater warmed the place up quickly. I was greeted in a friendly, professional way on arrival, which means a lot to me. A five-star-plus experience for me, highly recommended.
