The bathrooms were spotless, the showers were great, and the kitchen was clean and had good facilities, including fridge space. The location also makes it easy to reach most nearby places and activities. Our room was nice for what we paid, but some wall fixtures were coming loose and there were no power sockets beside the bed. The heater looked dirty and seemed like a fire risk when it started sparking at the wall. Check-in felt unfriendly too, as the receptionist seemed not to care and mumbled through it.

The accommodation itself was acceptable, but the owner and reception manager’s manner ruined our stay. From the moment we arrived, we felt unwelcome. Even simple conversations were met with hostility and condescension, and the atmosphere stayed unpleasant throughout. We travel a lot and rarely meet someone in hospitality so unnecessarily rude. Looking back at the reviews, this doesn’t seem to be an isolated experience. I wish we’d paid more attention before booking. There are plenty of other places in the area, so future travellers should read the reviews carefully before choosing this one.

We felt unwelcome for the whole stay. The accommodation itself wasn’t what shocked us most; it was the cold, unpleasant way we were treated. Looking at older reviews now, it seems others have had similar experiences over the years, and we ignored those warning signs before booking. There are much better places nearby where guests are treated with respect.

It was clean, friendly, safe, and super convenient, with a free spa. There’s a cosy lounge and a beautiful kitchen and dining area. Laundry options are limited to a sink and drying line, though they do offer service washes. I left for Haast wishing I’d booked one more night.

No need to book the free spa, which holds up to four people, or the free infrared-style sauna, with room for two. There’s also a room for stretching, and free street parking very close by. I’ll book again.
