This place is not a 4 star hotel, and I'm never coming back. There was no one to greet us at 7pm, even though reception said it was open until 8pm. The laundry was a reason we booked, but using it depended on someone being at reception, so we went without it because someone didn't want to work. Hot water lasted only two minutes before turning cold, and the beds were very uncomfortable. There was also a CCP flag out front flying at the same height as the NZ flag. What a disgraceful place. Nobody should come here.

We only had one night here, though the area was beautiful and the facilities were great. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Angela checked us in today after our drive from Queenstown. We're from Sydney Australia, and she greeted us so warmly and gave us a glass of milk. The cabin was lovely, very clean, and beautiful. I couldn't fault the retreat, and Angela's customer service left a lasting impression. I'd definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone.

We stayed in Bracken, a two-bed, one-bath cabin. It had a full kitchen and a comfortable lounge, and was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The chalets are in a lovely quiet spot a few minutes out of town. You can hear some road noise since the site is fairly close to the road, but it isn't busy and the noise doesn't go on late into the night.

About 5 km north of Franz, this motel is very quiet. Our two-bedroom unit was a separate building and felt like having a house to ourselves. It was large, modern, and clean, with a well-equipped kitchen and a very spacious bathroom. The staff were friendly, and you can borrow videos to watch. It was the nicest motel on our trip, and I highly recommend it.
