Franz Josef Top 10 Holiday Park

The facilities were in good shape, with clean, dry toilets and showers, a tidy camp kitchen and coin laundry that stayed open overnight. Our hardstand powered site worked well, and arriving early helped us find a spot with a nicer view, though all the spots had good views. Sites weren't allocated when we arrived. There’s a jumping pillow and trampoline. We didn’t try the games room, and I think it may cost extra, though I could be wrong. A baby change table in the family room would have been useful for changing our baby after a shower. Aside from that, we thoroughly enjoyed our one night.

The setting is beautiful, with lots of open space and lovely views. It works especially well for campervans and tents, though perhaps less so for cabin stays. Our cabin felt rather dull and the beds weren't comfortable. Walking into town could be a bit of a stretch, but the park itself is in a really lovely location.

Having a refrigerator and water heater in the room was handy, and the staff I spoke with were friendly and efficient. The room itself was average and could have been cleaner, as I found hair on the bathroom wall and in the bedsheets. The sink setup was awkward. It was very small with a shelf above it, so washing my face left water on the floor and brushing my teeth made it hard to spit into the sink.

The King Ensuite Cabin turned out to be one room in a group of six, with a shared kitchen. The walls were paper thin, so we heard neighbours arguing and using the microwave in 30-second bursts, ping, ping, ping. The bathroom was tiny, with a basin about 20cm wide and a glass shelf right above it. Brushing your teeth was impossible!
