Glenfern Villas

We stayed in unit number 5, a quiet two bed villa with lovely views and a warm welcome at reception. It had a kitchenette and everything we needed, plus a comfortable bed and a good shower. Our villa had one bedroom upstairs, and there was covered parking beside it. The only downside was that the decor and furniture were looking a little tired. The location just outside Franz Joseph was great.

The owners were so kind and suggested different activities in the area. We had a lovely two bedroom villa and a very pleasant stay as a family. Too bad we only had one night there. We’re looking forward to coming back.

The location was nice, though the building is next to a road and could get a little noisy at times. Internet was weak: it worked okay in only one bedroom and the bathroom in our two bed, one bath unit, and worked perfectly only outside. The lady at the front desk was nice and showed us to the right house. The rooms were okay, but small and felt a bit cramped. They could have been better.

The hosts were lovely and kind. We’d messed up our booking, but they were very helpful and flexible about fitting us in. When we left, they gave us great advice on places to stop along our journey. We also got to feed their sheep and borrowed DVDs from reception for the early autumn evenings. It’s a peaceful holiday home park a little outside Franz Josef, with a fully equipped kitchen, spacious rooms, a terrace and parking right by the house. You can see the mountains and the glacier, or at least the general direction where it lies.
