Riverstone House

The garden was lovely to wake up to, with birds singing through the morning. We stayed in the ground-floor suite, which was spotless and had a really comfortable bed. Breakfast covered both continental choices and a cooked dish, and the baked beans on toast were great. Ken and Jenny were thoughtful, kind hosts who made sure we had what we needed, and shared some delightful stories too. A wonderful place to stay if you’re in the area.

We arrived an hour before check-in, and Ken and Jenny Jordan were fine with that. I’d never stayed at a B&B before and didn’t know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. The room was on the small side, though clean, tidy and welcoming, with everything we needed, including a fridge, coffee maker and cosy bathroom. It opened straight onto the entrance and garden, with a little sitting area where I could have a drink and smoke while listening to the birds. Breakfast was included, and the price was great. I loved it. Thanks, Ken and Jenny.

It’s on the edge of town, though restaurants are only a short drive away. Our hosts made us feel welcome that evening, and breakfast the next morning was great. The room and shower were lovely.

The room was very comfortable, and Jenny and Ken were excellent hosts. It was a really warm welcome for our first night in New Zealand, a perfect start to the trip. There are good restaurants a short drive away in town. I’d recommend staying here without hesitation.
