The food was a real highlight at Mt Rosa Lodge. Michelle surprised us with bacon benedict and shakshuka, plus fresh-baked sourdough and croissants. Stuart's homemade granola and espresso drinks were great too. It was easily the best breakfast I've had at a stay, despite being described as a continental breakfast. We also toured the vineyard and tasted La Bella Rosa Pinot Noir. The small-batch wine was delicious, so we bought three bottles to take home. Stuart and Michelle gave us helpful recommendations for the towns on our honeymoon around New Zealand, and stayed in touch until we got back to the States. They welcomed us as we arrived along the picturesque drive. The area is peaceful, with incredible views over Gibbston Valley. Our cozy room had a fireplace and small deck, and Stuart even brought the bean bag sacks outside so we could watch the sunset from our private deck. This was our favourite honeymoon stay, and Mt Rosa Lodge is a hidden gem if you're spending a few days in or near Queenstown.

Our time here was magical because we slowed down, shared a glass or two with Stuart and Michelle, talked about our interests, and took their advice on day trips and dinner spots. That's what true hospitality feels like. When we come back to New Zealand, we'll detour to stay again, even if it's hard to top driving a Fiat 500 through the vines. You can be as social or keep to yourself, with your hosts and a small number of other guests around. The spacious, beautifully decorated room has lovely views down Gibbston Valley, and the King Size bed with New Zealand's finest bedding is incredibly comfortable. We enjoyed a glass of Bella Rosa Pinot Noir, hand grown by Stuart and made by Gibbston Valley winemaking legend Alan Brady. Michelle's breakfasts were fabulous, and Stuart and Michelle were thoughtful with local dinner bookings, winery visits and places of interest. However you choose to spend your stay, it's a very special place. Thank you both, Michelle and Stuart.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with Michelle's delicious food, quality ingredients, careful presentation and a healthy juice each morning. And be sure to try their La Bella Rosa wine, it's outstanding. This was our second stay at Mt Rosa Lodge in Gibbston Valley, and Michelle and Stuart were again warm, welcoming hosts who made everything easy. The property is peaceful, beautifully looked after and surrounded by tranquil mountain scenery. Our spacious, elegant room was tastefully furnished, with luxurious linen, immaculate presentation and thoughtful touches that made it feel indulgent and comfortable. It was a five-star stay, with lovely attention to detail throughout.

The wine made at this beautiful property is excellent, among the best in the region. We also found the rooms comfortable, and Michelle and Stuart were wonderful hosts who made our visit really enjoyable. A great place to stay when you're in Queenstown or the Gibbston Valley.

We couldn't have picked a better place to wind down at the end of our seven-week trip. The property was beautiful and relaxing, the views amazing, and Stuart and Michelle gracious hosts who served a wonderful breakfast. Thank you both. Their Pinot is apparently ranked number 5 in New Zealand, and they can ship it to the US too. 😀
