Waikanae Beach TOP 10 Holiday Park

It's far too expensive for what's offered. We only stayed one night, which was enough to see it wasn't the best place. There's just one toilet facility, closed from 10 to 11 pm, and it's secured with a number code you have to remember whenever you need to go. The kitchen and pool are locked too, and need a contactless card. At an unpowered site, you'll be right by the route, about 3 m away, so expect car lights and noise. There's a dump station but no drinking water to fill your tank, which makes no sense.

The covered pool was wonderful for swimming in any season, and I absolutely loved staying in the Beach Bach. It's an awesome holiday park, right on the beach and only a short walk from town.

The heated pool was a big hit with my boys, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We stayed one night to recharge for the journey, and the clean park had sites spacious enough for a motorhome with extra room for a day room or tent. The beach and city centre are just around the corner. There is truck traffic on the busy road beside the park, quieter at night but still noticeable. You need a security card for almost everything, which can be a hassle with kids. I also found it unusual to have to provide both a credit card and driver's license at check-in. Still, it's a solid place with the amenities you'd expect.

A lovely campsite for visiting Gisborne. The sanitary facilities are very clean, and there's a nice cafe in front of the site.
