A big thank you to local fisherman Kim, his wife Carol, and their friend Jason. They shared some great fishing stories and gave us the fish they'd caught, all filleted and ready for dinner. That kind of West Coast hospitality won't be forgotten. The place itself was in a fantastic location, with top-notch cleanliness, a well-equipped kitchen and lovely little areas to relax. They also had tea, coffee and filtered water available.

The cat was lovely and friendly, and there’s a nice yard for tents. The owner-manager was easygoing and friendly, and there were lots of free things to use, including a pool and dart room, bikes and a small gym. Sauna and spa cost a small fee. Plenty of different lounges and outdoor seating, with artistic decor. Parking was easy too. I'd come back, though it was sometimes fully booked. Gooooood.

The rooms are all bespoke, and the building has so much warmth and character. It feels more like a boutique hotel than a backpackers hostel, and it's absolutely spotless. They've thought of every detail and provided everything you need. If you're passing through Greymouth, you HAVE to stay at Global Village. You'll only wish you could stay longer.

My friends and I were sorry to stay only one night because this quirky little hostel has so much to offer. The staff were friendly, with a family-run, mom and pop feel. The kitchen was well stocked, and loads of things were free. It was great to be able to borrow a bike or kayak without being charged for every little thing. The bathrooms and showers were great, the beds comfortable, and I loved that they provided towels. The internet worked well. We were in a four-bed dorm, and there were about eight hooks, which was great since so many hostels don't have enough. I really don't have anything bad to say and recommend this place to everyone. All the little touches make a big difference.

The owners were so welcoming and even picked us up from the bus stop, a really thoughtful gesture. Everything was clean and organized, and the place felt warm and comfortable. There are lots of great free activities, including kayaks, hammocks, mountain bikes, a pool table, darts and a cozy movie room. The bikes were perfect for riding into town. This is the best hostel we've stayed at so far, and we'd come back anytime. Highly recommend it! 💛
