Wilderness Accommodation

We hadn’t planned to stop, but after driving from Hokitika through torrential rain and surface flooding, we needed somewhere for the night. The woman on the phone was hard to hear over the rain while I called from the car, but luckily there was a spare room with private parking right by the door. The room was basic but super clean, and the shower was awesome. Internet cost $5 for 24 hours and let us connect two devices; between the two of us, we made it work for a one-night stay. The woman was VERY accommodating, which I really appreciated. It was a little expensive, but in that weather it was nice to have somewhere warm and dry to pull in. Thank you, Donna.

Adele was lovely when we arrived, and we had a nice two-night stay. We had everything we needed: a functional kitchen, a comfy bed, and shelter from the storm. We didn’t expect the world in the middle of nowhere, and this motel served its purpose better than most amenities in Haast. The separate 250 MB internet coupons even added to the ambience. It’s a motel, not a long-term rental. Would recommend 👍

The room was small and uncomfortable, with no air conditioning, hair dryer, or other basic amenities I’d normally expect in a motel. Wi-Fi wasn’t included, and there was a 3% surcharge for paying by card. The front desk didn’t feel welcoming either. The banging door kept going all night, and I honestly didn’t sleep. The shared kitchen is right by the rooms, so it gets noisy, especially early and late. Basic, loud, and not worth the price. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

The receptionists were unhelpful at best and sometimes rude. If you have an issue, especially with an online booking, they may hang up on you. Avoid at all costs.
