Motel Six

The woman at reception was friendly and welcoming, and the rooms are spacious. The price was cheap, but the rooms looked very dated, with the TV seeming to be the newest thing in them. The shower was set very low and had weak pressure. There were three beds in the room, which was fortunate because the sheets on the main beds were stained. You get what you pay for, so I can't rate the place higher.

We went for my son's tournament as a family of five, but there were only two towels, and we'd never go back. The room had a bad stench and felt outdated. The dishes were dirty, so we had to wash everything we used three times over. The shower curtain was smelly and mouldy along the bottom, and the rooms were dusty and dirty too. It felt like the cleaners and owners just didn't care. Check the reviews before handing over your money.

We come to Hamilton often to visit family and have stayed here several times. The central location is handy, the price suits our budget, and the owner and staff have always been lovely and accommodating. The building is old and not luxurious, but it's immaculately clean, and there's a full stove for cooking if you don't want to eat out all the time. It has no dishwasher, but the new double-glazed windows help with road noise. The rating is for the friendly experience and good value. The same owners have a newer property across the road, though it has fewer kitchen facilities.

The bathroom was clean, and the rooms had what we needed, including a heater in each one. We needed them because the rooms got very cold in winter. The sheets and towels were clean too, but the bedspreads smelled of body odor and should be washed or left off the beds. They don't provide extra blankets. The old sofa was a bit dirty, but fine if you're not planning to spend much time on it.
