The location right in front of Hahei Beach is hard to beat, and the facilities were clean and well kept. They seemed a little limited for a campground this size, but I never had to queue. Campsites are laid out well, the staff are friendly, the houses and cabins are clean and cared for based on my previous experience, and Wifi worked well. The bar is handy for drinks, pizzas, burgers and snacks, especially for families who’d rather not prepare every meal. I visited over the Waitangi holiday. Of the three shower blocks, only one had consistently hot water, and friends in our group had the same issue. The BBQs are few and heavily used, and one had no gas for two days. It’s among the most expensive campgrounds too. A covered TV or games room would be useful on rainy days. Even with those issues, we had a great stay and I recommend it.

We had a powered site for two nights at the beginning of May, with a lovely spot and seamless after hours check in. The clean facilities included hot showers that ran for five minutes, plus a deck and kitchen for guests to use. The beach was nice, and town, the brewery and Cathedral Cove were all within walking distance. The restaurant and bar are closed now.

We had a really good few days at an excellent site, though we couldn’t keep the same spot for longer. Since we stayed during the week, we had to move out for the short stay weekenders. It’s an interesting model that gives two-night bookings priority over people staying a week. To be fair, they book ahead and we float, so that’s just life as nomads.

The campground had everything we needed for travelling in our van, including a dump station, tyre inflation facilities and fresh water refill. The communal area and food space were pleasant, and the pizzas and burgers were wonderful. Staff were very nice, and the toilets and bathrooms were clean and well lit. We had a peaceful, enjoyable two days here, and I definitely recommend it.

We spent last Christmas camping there and had a really, really nice time. My kid loved it! The Spanish speaking receptionist was absolutely lovely, so attentive and ready to help. Sorry, I can't remember her name. Strongly recommend.
