Aspen Manor Motel

The location and price made both of my stays enjoyable. Each time, the room was clean and well presented, the grounds were tidy, and staff were friendly and easy to contact. Judging by past reviews, they must have made huge improvements, and they deserve credit for that.

I couldn’t stay and was booking somewhere else while still in the room. I asked a staff member to look around with me so she could see the condition. She apologised, understood I was unhappy, and suggested another hotel nearby. I’m waiting for confirmation through the booking platform that I won’t be charged. The room had a strong unpleasant smell, bedding in very poor condition, and pillows that looked as if someone had slept on them and casually tossed them back. There were holes in the walls, paint applied straight over wallpaper, and generally untidy, poorly finished surfaces. I was deeply concerned by the state of it, especially for the amount charged per night. Even the four tiny milk pods provided for the stay felt inadequate and careless. Outside, the motel looked neglected, with unkempt grounds that gave the impression upkeep wasn’t a priority. I arrived shortly after check-in had closed. The woman at reception told me my room was number 28 and said, “Just drive around and you’ll find it.” That lack of direction was disappointing and set the tone. I don’t make complaints lightly, whether personally or professionally, but I can’t recommend this place to anyone. The website says “Quality accommodation. Outstanding service. Your home away from home.” My experience was the complete opposite and nowhere near home away from home. Management needs to make a significant overhaul before taking more bookings. This needs serious attention, not minor maintenance, and I can’t recommend staying until substantial improvements are made.

I was worried after reading the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. The outside looks run down and like the hood, but the room and bed were well cleaned, with no mould in sight. I have severe asthma, so having a clean space mattered to me. I used to clean for 5-star hotels, and there was a bit of dust in hidden spots, but I was very happy with our one-night stay. I didn’t even know there was a spa 😆 Great value, but the outside definitely needs updating!

It’s filthy from before you even get to your room, so don’t take your shoes off. The room stank, the curtains were filthy and nearly see-through, and there were cobwebs on the ceiling and behind the doors. There was mould behind the dirty toilet, the windows wouldn’t open properly, the bathroom drain smelled funky, and the kitchen Venetian blind was gross. Dust piled up on the skirting boards and under the beds made it look like the room hadn’t been properly cleaned for years. The walls had writing and filthy handprints on them. The pillows were stained and lumpy. The only cookware was a rusty frying pan, there was no dishcloth, and the plug didn’t even fit the sink. They don’t service the rooms, and don’t clean them properly to begin with. I had to make three calls to get a usable frying pan, and management was almost impossible to deal with and didn’t seem to care. At checkout I had to throw the key through reception’s window. I don’t know how that lady isn’t embarrassed by the state of the place. It’s disgusting. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
