The Furlong

As a truckie, I really appreciated the good truck parking. The rooms were tidy and spacious, and it was good value for a quick overnight stop in a handy location. I'd give it 4.5 stars. Since the bar and eatery has closed, the shop could use a wider selection of food. The nearest place to eat is a bit of a hike.

The staff were great to deal with, and I'd stay here again. For the price, I was pleasantly surprised: the motel is clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. Really good value. 4.5 stars.

Pleasantly surprised by how comfortable this place was for the price. The room was spacious and clean, looked recently renovated, and had no signs of mould or damp. The new air conditioning worked perfectly. There was plenty of parking, and the location was convenient with lots of restaurants nearby. Housekeeping came daily and left good quality towels. The bathroom looked brand new and was especially spacious. The room also had a kettle, oven, toaster and cutlery, which made things easier. My only suggestion is to add a soap and shampoo holder in the shower so guests don't have to bend down to pick them up from the floor. I really enjoyed my stay and would happily recommend it.

My son had been worried he'd end up sleeping in his hire car by the roadside after his plans fell through, so I'm extremely grateful for how the staff at The Furlong Motel looked after him. I booked a room online at 10pm at the last minute for his drive from Auckland, and emailed to say he'd arrive late. Reception had already closed for the night, but a staff member stayed up until he got there at 2AM, welcomed him and gave him a lovely room. They even arranged a late check-out. Their kindness meant a lot to me as his mother.
