A K West Motel

The pool looked nothing like the photos: it was dirty, falling apart, and surrounded by bird droppings. The grounds were poorly maintained too. Inside, there was no air conditioning or bathroom extractor fan, and the beds felt cheap. There wasn't an ironing board, room service, or a restaurant. The owner couldn't speak English. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you have nowhere else to go.

I had the worst night's sleep I've ever had in a motel, and I won't be back or recommend the place. The room was in poor condition, with bathroom lighting so dim I could barely see my face in the mirror. The heating wasn't effective, so reception gave us an extra blanket. On top of that, I was charged more than the advertised room price.

The sheets were lovely and clean, the shower was great, and parking was good. It was also easy to get around on wheels. Still, the place felt run down and overpriced. If you're planning to sightsee, West Auckland is quite a trek from many attractions.

We booked online and were charged for two rooms, apparently because only “family rooms” were left. It felt like a con, and we left feeling ripped off. After walking in, we heard someone else complaining and soon found ourselves in the same position. Fellow New Zealanders are likely to be very unimpressed too. It would be better to stay in the city and drive out to West Auckland.
