Grant and Debbie were brilliant hosts, and we had a great night. It was a proper old West Coast pub and hotel from the 1800s, with real Kiwi hospitality. If you're relaxed about things and fancy a good laugh with beers flowing, stay here. If you need ensuites, smashed avo, and lattes, head to Auckland. Thanks for a night we'll remember, Chris and Charlie.

The restaurant staff were so helpful. One of them went out of his way to make an extra dish for our gluten-free friend. Really kind.

The bed was comfortable, the room was good, and the woman who showed us in was very nice. But the whole first floor smelled of fried food, since the restaurant kitchen opened onto the hotel corridor. We also found a dead mouse on the floor while cooking in the kitchen. The kitchen staff had to pass through the hotel's common area as well.

We needed two rooms while travelling down the west coast and were so glad to find this place. The rooms were really clean and comfortable. You can cook in the shared kitchen, or have a meal and drinks at the pub, which has a great selection. It is outside Hokitika town, though not far.
