Shining Star Beachfront Accommodation

We planned just one night in a powered motorhome site, but wound up staying three. The layout, with its gardens and trees, gives the sites a homely feel, and the clean, tidy facilities were great. Showers are free, with plenty of hot water. We also loved the little farm atmosphere, with miniature horses, llamas and goats. Hokitika was easy to reach by bike or on foot, and we really enjoyed our time here.

The staff were kind, understanding and easy to deal with, and the grounds and private beach access were a real plus. We also appreciated being told that the glow worm track is just across the road. Our family came down from Auckland for a few family things and stayed in a two-bedroom unit. It was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. The beds had fresh, pressed bedding and were especially comfortable; the bathroom was spotless and the shower had plenty of pressure. A great place to spend time, and very good value.

Our dog could stay too, which was why we chose this pet-friendly place. The beachfront chalet was in a beautiful, peaceful setting: from the deck we could watch the sea and hear the waves, with three ponies and rabbits in the paddock. The beach and town were easy to get to on foot. Staff were friendly, everything was neat and tidy, and we’d happily come back. Highly recommend.

The cabin was clean and nice, and the centre of town is about a 20-minute walk away. There are alpacas and goats on site as well. It’s fairly close to the train line, but the trains didn’t wake us or cause us any trouble.
