The one drawback was the size of my room. It worked fine for me, but would feel cramped for two. The room was clean, everything was provided, and the shower room was especially spacious. I’m staying here for three nights. Staff have been efficient and informative. When I asked about getting to the airport, they explained there’s a taxi rank across the road or they can call one. I ate at the restaurant and really enjoyed the meal, especially the house salad. The staff there were great too. Glad I chose the Kelvin!

It has a historic feel, and it was easy to find my way around the hotel. There’s a restaurant on the first floor and a sports bar at ground level. The service was very friendly, and the food was satisfying for the money. The hotel is so central that you can walk to the main shopping area and other places.

The food at Level One deserves a special mention: the seafood chowder, ribs, chicken nibbles, pork belly, pate, and eggs benedict were all next level. The menu was excellent and very reasonably priced, and I felt thoroughly spoiled. I loved the old-school feel of the Kelvin hotel. My room was comfortable and clean, and both the wait staff and reception team were helpful and had a great sense of humour. Well done, Jemma, you run a great ship. I highly recommend the hotel and commend you all for the hospitality.

The room was so hot I barely slept, and the tiny window that opened did little to help. There was no thermostat, just a wall heater that moved the air around without cooling it. I gave up trying to sleep at 5am, showered and did my hair, then had to wash off the sweat with a flannel before getting dressed. It was cheap for what we got, but the heat was at maximum rest-home levels. Maybe it suits older guests or people from very hot countries.

We enjoyed the stay, and the bar and pokies room were nice. Staff were friendly too. The car park is quite a walk away, so you need to pull up outside the door and unload your bags before parking. Carrying luggage that distance is a bit of a trek.
